neighborhood. Also, door-to-door soliciting is

gated communities in Orange County
In Ladera
Ranch, the exclusive community of Covenant Hills
contains many luxury and custom homes, as well as custom lots.
The Trabuco Canyon area features four gated communities. The
best known is Coto
de Caza, a community of over 4,000 homes, two
championship golf courses, and equestrian facilities. Also
very popular is Dove
Canyon with over 1,000 homes. Two lesser known
gated neighborhoods in Trabuco Canyon include Rancho Cielo,
plus Walden, a community with no Mello Roos. Mission
Viejo has several gated developments including
Canyon Crest, as well as the lakeside condo communities of
Finisterra on the Lake and Mallorca. Mission Viejo also
includes two 55+ gated retirement communities. These are Casta
del Sol and Palmia. In San
Juan Capistrano, two of the most prestigious gated
developments are Hunt Club and Marbella Estates. In Laguna
Niguel, the community of Bear Brand Ranch includes
homes with ocean views. One of Irvine's newest gated enclaves is Shady Canyon. In North OC, Fullerton's Fairway Village includes condos and town homes overlooking the
golf course. For the
coastal areas, Newport
Beach includes Pelican Hill, Dana
Point features Monarch Bay, and Laguna
Beach holds the Montage, Emerald Bay, and Three Arch Bay
communities. These are just a few of the many gate

How
are gated community homes listed on this page?
Homes are listed for sale or
leases on this page if the listing agent has tagged the
MLS (Multiple Listing Service) with the correct codes. These
codes can include "gated community", "gated community with attendant", "gated
community with guard" or "automatic
gate". Like all of the pages on my web site, the
information is only as good as the data that was entered by
the agents. For example, a property will not appear on my
horse properties page if an agent inadvertently omits the
proper identification tag in the MLS.
Do all Orange
County gated communities have attended or guarded gates?
While many gated housing
developments do have
live gate attendants and security patrols, many others have
automated gates that require a special card or that use a
keypad with a combination code for gate access. In many cases
this is due to the cost. Communities with live attendants must
obviously bear the higher cost for this service. Also, many
gated neighborhoods are smaller and there may only be space at
the entrance for an automated gate. Generally speaking though,
the more affluent, luxury communities tend to have live
security entrances and added features such as a neighborhood
patrol, while smaller and more affordable housing
tracts usually rely on an automated system.
